The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) inflation rate for Decmber 2017 fell by 0.10% to 3% but it’s nearly double what it was in December 2016, when it stood at just 1.60%. The January 2018 inflation figures will be released next Tuesday – 13th February.Statistics like this are always in the media but what does it mean and why is inflation so important?

The deadline for transferring your Help to Buy ISA into a Lifetime ISA is rapidly approaching. The window is closing on 5 April 2018, after this date you will not be able to transfer your Help to Buy ISA without the proceeds counting as part of your Lifetime ISA allowance, so you may not be able maximise the 25% bonus offered.Having said this, transferring may not necessarily be the right thing to do.
