Almost all adults in the UK (93%) have a cash savings account, but with many put off switching accounts because of the expected hassle and low perceived gain, 80% of easy access accounts have not been switched in the last three years. *

A cash ISA used to be the obvious first choice for all savers, as the interest earned is tax free. But, much has happened over the years, in particular the introduction of the Funding for Lending Scheme (FLS) in July 2012 - which prompted best buy cash ISA rates to fall by over 50% - and the Personal Savings Allowance (PSA) in April 2016.
